County to Hold Public Hearing on Special Exception Request for River Rd. Plant Nursery

The Sarasota Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on November 5, 2025, to consider a request for a special exception that would allow a wholesale plant nursery with a landscape supply operation on River Road. near Winchester Boulevard. 

The meeting will take place at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chamber at the Robert L. Anderson Administration Center, 4000 South Tamiami Trail, Venice, Florida. The petition, listed as Special Exception No. 1913 under record number PLN-REZSE-25-000009, involves property located north of River Road and east of Winchester Boulevard. The land is zoned OUE-1, or Open Use Estate, which permits one residential unit per five acres.

Residents and other interested parties may attend the hearing to speak or provide written comments. Copies of the draft resolution are available during business hours at the Planning and Development Services Department, 1001 Sarasota Center Blvd., Sarasota. Supporting documents will be posted online on the Friday before the hearing at www.scgov.net.
