Sarasota County Schools announced on December seventeen, two thousand twenty-five, that Ryan Shurley has been selected as the new principal of North Port High School.
Shurley brings more than fifteen years of experience as an educator and school leader within Sarasota County Schools. Most recently, he served as assistant principal of curriculum at Venice High School, where he led instructional initiatives and supervised advanced academic programs that contributed to gains in student achievement, acceleration and graduation rates, according to the district.
Throughout his career, Shurley has held assistant principal positions at Venice High School, Venice Middle School and North Port High School, where district officials say he is already a familiar presence. His leadership work has focused on strengthening instructional practice through professional learning, expanding access to rigorous coursework and supporting safe and inclusive school environments.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Shurley into this role and look forward to his leadership at North Port High School,” Sarasota County Schools said in a statement. “He will work alongside students, staff and families to continue building a culture of excellence, belonging and high expectations for all.”
District officials described Shurley as a collaborative leader who uses data to guide decision-making and who works closely with families, staff and community partners to support student success.
Shurley holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Florida. He maintains Florida certification in Educational Leadership and School Principal and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
