Saturday Coffee & Conservation: Vertical Oyster Garden Workshop

SUP Englewood and the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center will present a free, family-friendly Vertical Oyster Garden workshop from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 19, at Don Pedro Island State Park, 8450 Placida Road, Placida.

Ashley Cook of the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center will explain how oysters help improve water quality and create habitat throughout Charlotte Harbor. Children, families, and adults will then participate in constructing Vertical Oyster Gardens using recycled oyster shells.

Coffee, light refreshments, and workshop supplies will be provided. The workshop is free, but regular park admission of $3 per vehicle applies. Attendance is limited to 25 participants, and advance registration is required.
