Generation Englewood: 306-Unit Apartment Community Coming to Englewood Early 2026

Generation Englewood Rendering (Kaplan Residential)

Generation Englewood, a new apartment community, is coming soon to East Englewood in South Sarasota County.

Kaplan Residential, a firm known for multifamily and build-to-rent developments across the Southeast, picked up nearly 20 acres at 201 Pine St., right at the corner of Crestwood Road and Pine Street, for $5.3 million. The previous owners, Jay and Premala Raja, bought the land back in 1999 for $1.1 million.

Construction started in 2024, and once finished, Generation Englewood will feature 306 rental units spread across five three-story buildings, covering more than 308,000 square feet. The design comes from CID Design Group. Some apartments will overlook a 3.5-acre man-made pond, ringed by a walking path, benches, and the community’s buildings.

Kaplan plans to offer a mix of 129 one-bedroom units (between 765 and 840 square feet), 142 two-bedroom units (1,038 to 1,180 square feet), and 30 three-bedroom units (at 1,390 square feet). Rents run from $2,000 up to $3,500 per month. The community will include a 10,000-square-foot clubhouse, a pool, a dog park, and an outdoor gathering space fitted with TVs, lounge seating, and a bar. Architecture Alliance, the landscape architect, is adding walking trails, benches, and grilling stations throughout the property.

Kaplan Residential operates out of Bay Harbor Islands, Florida. Nathan Kaplan, the company’s partner and managing director, knows the region well—his mother lives in Lakewood Ranch. This is Kaplan’s second Sarasota County project; their first, Generation Venice, sits across from Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Venice and features 239 luxury townhome rentals.

Kaplan chose this spot in Englewood for a reason: there’s a clear shortage of apartments in the area, even as the market keeps growing. The location sits about half a mile from the West Dearborn Street commercial district and close to Wellen Park, where you’ll find high-end shops and the Atlanta Braves’ spring training facility.

Downtown Englewood has seen major upgrades lately, with new infrastructure and more projects on the way. Kaplan expects to deliver Generation Englewood in early 2026.
