All Lee Health acute care hospitals, including Cape Coral Hospital, Gulf Coast Medical Center, HealthPark Medical Center, and Lee Memorial Hospital, just landed on Healthgrades’ list of the 50 Best Hospitals in the country. That’s no small feat. These hospitals now stand shoulder to shoulder with the top medical centers across the nation, recognized for outstanding care and actual results for patients.
What does this mean? Healthgrades only gives this distinction to hospitals with the best quality and patient outcomes in multiple specialty areas. Each of these Lee Health hospitals scored in the top 1% nationwide, consistently delivering excellent results in several fields.
Cape Coral Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center, and Lee Memorial Hospital aren’t newcomers here; they’ve made the top 50 two years running. Gulf Coast Medical Center joined the list for the first time, highlighted for its work in coronary intervention, pulmonary care, stroke treatment, cranial neurosurgery, neurosciences, and outpatient prostate care.
Cape Coral Hospital stood out for its strengths in gastrointestinal care, pulmonology, outpatient prostate care, stroke, and GI surgery. HealthPark Medical Center earned top clinical quality awards in cardiac, pulmonary, and stroke care. Lee Memorial Hospital also excelled in cardiac, pulmonary, and stroke specialties.
Dr. Iahn Gonsenhauser, Lee Health’s chief medical officer, put it plainly: “We’re proud Healthgrades recognized all our adult acute care hospitals as top performers, not just in their specialties but among the best in the country.” He pointed to the team’s commitment to high-quality care for every patient in Southwest Florida, promising residents and visitors alike that they’ll get world-class treatment at any Lee Health hospital.
Healthgrades bases its rankings on patient outcomes, real data that helps people choose doctors and hospitals with proven track records. To build its list of the top 250 U.S. hospitals, Healthgrades analyzed clinical performance from about 4,500 hospitals, covering over 30 common procedures and conditions.
Their annual review is sobering: if every hospital performed like the top 250, they could save over 211,000 lives each year.
