The Hermitage Artist Retreat has announced its fourth season of the Cross Arts Collaborative, an initiative that supports local performers expanding their creative practices. This year’s recipients are composer Shawn Allison, affiliated with ensembleNewSRQ, and musician Tom Lubben of The Lubben Brothers, collaborating with Key Chorale. Each artist will receive a two-week residency at the Hermitage campus on Manasota Key to develop new generative work. Their original compositions will be presented in a free community program at Nathan Benderson Park on December 3. Registration opens in September. Made possible through support from the Koski Family Foundation, the Cross Arts Collaborative provides time and space for performers to explore creative projects beyond their usual roles. This initiative highlights the Hermitage’s commitment to nurturing artistic innovation within Sarasota’s thriving arts community. This year’s selection process was led by Hermitage alumna and flutist Claire Chase. The residency continues to foster local talent, building on past partnerships with regional institutions like Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, Florida Studio Theatre, and Sarasota Opera.
