Lemon Bay Woman’s Club Celebrates 100 Years of Community in Englewood

Happy birthday to the Lemon Bay Woman’s Club! They’re celebrating 100 years since their clubhouse in Englewood, Florida, finally opened its doors.

This place isn’t just old; it was the very first building in town to make it onto the National Register of Historic Places. That’s a big deal.

Kathy Stiles, president of the Lemon Bay Women’s Club, says, “We couldn’t have made it this far without the unwavering support of our community. For a full century, you’ve stood with us, and that’s why we’re here today, marking this incredible milestone. One hundred years! It’s hard to put the pride into words. The future feels bright for Englewood, and I truly believe there’s no family quite like ours.”

Stiles expresses the club’s appreciation to the Englewood community and says, “Thank you, from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of every Lemon Bay Woman’s Club member, past and present. We’re honored to keep our mission alive: promoting civic engagement, supporting our community, and looking out for children’s welfare. ‘Service to All’ isn’t just a slogan—it’s been our promise since the very beginning.”

The club proudly welcomed Shelly Lampp-Babington, who joined them for the 100th birthday ribbon-cutting this February 2026, honoring her family’s legacy. Back in 1942, her family home passed to her, along with a deep tradition of generosity and love for Englewood. The Lampp family’s gift of land, design, and building plans back in 1925 gave the club a true home. The family’s only request? That they keep the Lemon Bay Woman’s Club going strong and stay committed to helping Englewood and our local charities.

Looking back over the past 30 years, the club feels deeply grateful for the Englewood Chamber, the Rotary clubs, and all the businesses that provide their support. It’s this support that keeps their history alive and helps them invest in the next generation.

Thank you to the Lemon Bay Women’s Club for all the work they do for the community. Here’s to a hundred years, and many more to come.
