Fishing for Tarpon & Redfish
The Englewood Fishing Club will meet at 6:30pm on Thursday, April 11 at the Rotonda Community Center, 646 Rotonda Circle, Rotonda West. The April speaker is Captain Carl Butigian, owner of KB Back Country Charters. The April topic is “Fishing for Tarpon and Redfish”. Visitors are welcome. Manatee Cove of Englewood Receives AED Donation from Residents 
An AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) was donated to the Manatee Cove of Englewood clubhouse by park residents David & Susan Tullis. “We’ve long felt there was a need for this device in our clubhouse,” David said. “Since we’re all seniors, this could save a life at one of our clubhouse events.” The unit was presented at the last park meeting to a heartfelt round of applause from the residents. Manatee Cove (formerly Holiday Estates) is located off South McCall Road.


 

 

The Alameda Isles Women’s Club had their Spring Dinner and Fashion Show at Boca Royale on March 18th. The club enjoyed a delicious meal in the newly renovated dining room and were treated to a fashion show by Aura Boutique (1825 Englewood Road). The ladies received gift bags containing discount coupons from stores in the Lemon Bay Plaza (Aura Boutique, Kyle Kurtis Salon & Spa, Thai 2 Go, and Reid’s Health Foods). Genealogical Society April Events
The Englewood Genealogical Society will have two events on Wednesday, April 24th at the Elsie Quirk Library, 100 W. Dearborn Street. D’Ann Still leads a Family Tree Maker workshop from 10:15am to 12:30pm. D’Ann will outline the features of the Family Tree Maker software, do’s and don’ts, and answer your questions. This workshop is free and is open to the public. ZOOM participation is also available. To register, go to egsfl.org. The April general membership meeting will be held 1:30pm to 4:45pm. Guest speaker will be Ann Staley, live over ZOOM, on “Googling Your Family: Using the Whole Google Website”. After a Google website overview, she will discuss search tips & tricks and then explore the rest of the website (books, images, newspapers, maps, etc.) to show how you can use the site to enhance your genealogy research.
