Lucky to Love You Dance
Kids, get ready to dance the night away on Saturday, February 10, 4 to 7pm, at the Lucky to Love You Dance at Tringali Park Community Center, 3460 N. Access Road. Join UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County for “Superstar Snakes”, a family-friendly fun event to learn all about Florida’s fascinating serpents on Friday, February 16, 3pm, at the North Port Library, 13800 Tamiami Trail, North Port. Through a brief interactive presentation and fun, engaging activities and art projects, families will learn about snakes’ special superpowers, how to identify some common snake species, distinguish between venomous and non-venomous species, and understand why snakes are so important in a healthy ecosystem. Family Chalk Art Day
Bring the family to have fun at the Family Chalk Art Day on Saturday, February 17, 10am to 1pm, in the Cedar Street parking lot located at 49 Cedar Street. All ages are invited to chalk the parking lot with their own unique artwork. This free event is sponsored by the Englewood (CRA), Community Redevelopment Area, and staff will be on hand to meet you and answer questions about how Sarasota County can work for you. Little Explorers-Dinosaur Dig
Kids, ages 3 to 7, and their caregivers are invited to join Cedar Point Environmental Park for free nature classes. The class subject for Tuesday & Friday, February 20 & 23 will be Dinosaur Dig. Kids will participate in dynamic learning activities focused on nature, animals, and science. Classes meet in the visitor center at 2300 Placida Road from 9 to 10am. Movie on the Green
Enjoy a free movie under the stars! Bring your chair or blanket to this family-friendly event at the City Center Front Green, 4970 City Hall Blvd., North Port. Kids’ Teatime
Savor tea-riffic moments with your child and make sure not to miss the Spring Teatime Adventures in Wonderland. Children and families are encouraged to dress up in their best teatime attire for this fun and festive event being held on Saturday, March 2, 11am to noon, at the George Mullen Activity Center, 1602 Kramer Way, North Port. Attendees will enjoy special treats, magical photo stations, themed games and more. Open to children seven years of age and under. The fee is only $15 per child with complimentary admission for the supervising adult. Each additional attendee is $5. Advance registration is required. Spring Break Nature Camp
Cedar Point Environmental Park has announced that their Spring Camp is open for registration. Ocean Odyssey features wading trips, animal encounters, science experiments, and more for kids ages 8 to 12. The camp runs Monday through Friday, March 18-22, 9am to 3pm, and costs $195 per child. Radiology Scholarships Available
It is with great pleasure that Rita Bertler, President of Dollars to Mammograms, announces that Dollars For Mammograms is awarding five General Radiology Scholarships valued at $1,500 each, to seniors who attend Lemon Bay, Port Charlotte, Charlotte, North Port or Venice High Schools. General Radiology provides the pre-requisites required for any student interested in a career in the field of radiology, be it technical or professional. Dollars For Mammograms is a detection service which provides no-cost screening & diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds, US guided biopsies & MRI ultrasound biopsies to area residents who cannot afford them.
