Birding for Adults
Join Venice Area Audubon Society for an exciting birdwatching program, “Adult Birdwatching 101”, on Thursday, June 20, 2 to 3pm, at the North Port Library, 13800 Tamiami Trail, North Port. Discover the incredible variety of bird species that inhabit this area and learn how to identify them by their unique calls and traits. Gardening with Native Plants
Gain a comprehensive understanding of Florida native plants and how to choose the right native plants for your garden during a free presentation by UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County on Friday, June 21, 10 to 11:30am, at Shamrock Park, 3900 Shamrock Drive, Venice. Discover valuable resources such as books, websites and organizations on native plant gardening. Mangroves & Manatees
Explore “real” Florida with a Florida Master Naturalist tour guide through kayak adventures from Don Pedro Island State Park, 8450 Placida Road. Learn about marine mammals through encounters with dolphins and manatees and paddle through mangrove tunnels. Wildlife Center 50/50 Raffle
Tickets are available for the first annual Wildlife 50/50 raffle drawing to benefit the Paul A. & Veronica H. Gross Wildlife Center of SW Florida, located at 925 N. Jackson Road, Venice. There will be ten monthly drawings of $2,500. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold at $50 per ticket. Winning entries go back into the pot for more chances to win.
