Earth Day Beach Cleanup by Dedicated Volunteers

May 3, 2024 at 4:35 p.m.

Over 30 volunteers came out to celebrate Earth Day by cleaning up trash at Stump Pass Beach State Park. The Clean-Up, organized by Volunteers at Stump Pass and Keep Charlotte Beautiful Florida, saw volunteers from Network Craze Technologies, GFWC Rotonda West Woman’s Club, families, and other community members who care about nature and want to help preserve it. Organizers report there was less trash picked up than last year (hooray) and the trash collected reflected the usual culprits: cigarette butts (#1 offender), used diapers, feminine hygiene products, underwear, monofilament line, polystyrene, plastic bottles, plastic bags and booze containers. Please remember to take your trash with you when exiting the beach and use the trash receptacles at the parking lot. Mother Nature thanks you!
