The PicklePlex of Punta Gorda has announced Katie Mell as its new executive director, effective Monday, July 28. Mell will work alongside the board of directors to guide the facility’s continued growth and strategic development.
An experienced and certified community management professional, Mell will oversee all aspects of PicklePlex operations, including fundraising, facility management, programming, partnerships, and community engagement.
Mell’s appointment marks a new chapter for PicklePlex as it continues to evolve as a premier destination for pickleball in the region and beyond. Her leadership is expected to enhance the experience for members while expanding the facility’s role in the broader pickleball community.
PicklePlex, located on the Florida SouthWestern State College campus in Punta Gorda, serves players of all ages and skill levels and regularly hosts national tournaments, clinics, and events. With Mell at the helm, the organization aims to increase its impact both locally and nationally, positioning itself as a model for innovation in the sport.
