Sarasota County Announces 2025 Off the Page Line Up

SARASOTA COUNTY — Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources invites readers, writers and literary lovers of all ages to the 2025 Off the Page literary celebration, a monthlong literary celebration during November featuring bestselling authors, writing workshops, book signings and more.

This year’s headlining author is Amy Tan, internationally acclaimed author of “The Joy Luck Club.” Tan will discuss her latest memoir, “The Backyard Bird Chronicles,” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, at the Riverview High School Performing Arts Center.

The event kicks off Nov. 1, with a writer’s conference at Selby Library with publishing professionals and instructors from Ringling College of Art and Design. Attendees can meet industry experts, participate in hands-on workshops and swap books with fellow writers.

Other featured author events include:

  • Nov. 6, 2 p.m., Jack E. Davis, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “The Gulf” and “The Bald Eagle,” North Port Library
  • Nov. 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Family Day with crafts, storytelling and food trucks and Ben Clanton, author and illustrator of the “Narwhal and Jelly” series, Fruitville Library
  • Nov. 10, 6 p.m., Sam Kean, bestselling science writer and author of “Dinner with King Tut,” Gulf Gate Library
  • Nov. 12, 3 p.m., Robert K. Wittman, former FBI agent and author of “Priceless,” William H. Jervey, Jr. Venice Library
  • Nov. 15, 3 p.m., Chris Bohjalian, bestselling author of “Midwives” and “The Flight Attendant,” Selby Library
  • Nov. 19, 3 p.m., Janet and Alex Evanovich, mother-daughter bestselling authors, team up to promote their newest novels, “The King’s Ransom” and “E.V.I.L.,” Shannon Staub Library
  • Nov. 20, 6 p.m., Fiona Davis, author of “The Lions of Fifth Avenue” and other historical novels, William H. Jervey, Jr. Venice Library
