School zone speed limit adjustments coming to select Charlotte County roads

CHARLOTTE COUNTY — The Public Works Department is adjusting school zone speed limits on select roadways. The changes apply to corridors with a posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour or greater to meet current traffic safety standards.

Within designated school zones on these roadways, the posted speed limit will increase from 15 miles per hour to 20 miles per hour. The goal is to align with statewide practices while maintaining safety for students, pedestrians and motorists.

School zones on the following roadways are affected:

  • Boundary Boulevard
  • Cochran Boulevard
  • Collingswood Boulevard
  • Forrest Nelson Boulevard
  • Harborview Road
  • Lake View Boulevard
  • Loveland Boulevard
  • Midway Boulevard
  • Peachland Boulevard
  • Quesada Avenue
  • Rio De Janeiro Avenue
  • Toledo Blade Boulevard
  • Willmington Boulevard

Drivers should use caution, stay alert and follow all posted school zone speed limits as the updates take effect.
