Van Wezel Introduces First Family Fest with Alice in Wonderland

The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall will launch its first Family Fest on Saturday, September 27, offering a free, multigenerational event centered on Asolo Rep on Tour’s production of Alice in Wonderland.

The celebration, modeled after the hall’s popular Friday Fests, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the back lawn and in the Grand Foyer. Two relaxed, sensory-friendly performances of Alice in Wonderland are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with flexible seating, sensory tools, and a designated quiet space available for families.

Alongside the performances, guests can enjoy themed activities with local organizations, participate in mindfulness and literacy programming led by teaching artist Mr. Stevey, explore the Children’s Entrepreneur Market featuring kid-made products, and sample food from local food trucks.

The Family Fest is part of the Van Wezel’s education and community engagement programming, sponsored by the Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation. More information on upcoming events is available at VanWezel.org/education-community and through the hall’s social media platforms.
