Englewood Beach Waterfest is set to launch its annual Poker Run on Saturday, September 6, bringing a full day of competition, live entertainment, and pirate-themed fun to the community.
The event begins at 10 a.m., with participants traveling to seven local stops — Artur’s Restaurant, Beachcomber Trading Post, Endzone Bar & Grill, White Elephant Pub, The Backyard at Skip’s Marina, Sandbar Tiki & Grille, and Lighthouse Grill & Tiki Bar — to collect poker chips. Stops remain open until 3 p.m., and players must gather at least five different chips to qualify for the tournament.
The grand finale takes place at the Lighthouse Grill and Tiki Bar, 260 Maryland Avenue, where the Poker Tournament runs from 4 to 6 p.m. Winners will be announced during the evening festivities, followed by a pirate costume contest and after party. Live music includes performances by Pirates of the Floridian from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and Marker 5 Band from 5 to 8 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three hands, including $500 for best hand, $250 for second place, and $100 for third. A Pirate Costume Contest and a Best Pirate-Themed Boat contest will add extra excitement to the day’s activities.
Early online registration is available through September 4 for $40 at englewoodbeachwaterfest.com. Onsite registration is $45, offered during the Captain’s Party at Ken & Barb’s Restaurant on Friday, September 5, from 5 to 7 p.m., and again at the Lighthouse Grill on Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Hands may also be purchased at the Lighthouse Grill during that time.
The Waterfest Poker Run has become a staple of the fall season, combining friendly competition, food and drink specials, and waterfront fun while raising awareness for the larger Englewood Beach Waterfest event. It draws locals and visitors alike to enjoy a day on the water and celebrate Englewood’s coastal community spirit.
