Family-owned and woman-led.
That’s the foundation behind Xpertech Auto Repair, a shop that has been serving Englewood’s automotive repair needs for over two decades.
As the sole owner since 2009, Kathleen Callahan has made deep strides to offer Englewood something more than automotive repair: trust, care and community.
Committed to delivering honest, professional and high-quality automotive repair and maintenance, Xpertech’s team of Automotive Service Excellence certified technicians do not fall short when advising on repair solutions.
“Our people, our clients and our community are our top priorities. That’s why we use the latest diagnostic tools and repair technology to handle all major and minor repairs, foreign and domestic. We keep up on automotive trends and we make sure to deliver the most up-to-date industry knowledge to our customers,” Kathleen said.
That may come with a price tag, but Kathleen says Xpertech’s focus on honesty, relationships and customer care are far more important than upselling unnecessary repairs. Amid a nationwide surge in automotive care costs driven by complex tech, parts tariffs and labor shortages, honesty and transparency makes all the difference.
“We don’t recommend things you don’t need. And we don’t sell work to people — we advise people,” Kathleen said. “We see more and more people continually driving older vehicles and people need reliable repair shops to keep those cars on the road.”
FAMILY TIES
Family plays a big role in the shop’s dynamic.
Kathleen raised two daughters who are now using their own strengths to thrive in the family business.
“If you’d asked me three or four years ago … ‘Will your daughters work for the shop?’ … I would have emphatically said no, there’s no way, in a million years. But lo and behold, they are both here,” Kathleen said.
Delaney, the oldest, holds a Masters of Business Administration with a focus on data analytics. As an operations- and system-oriented professional, she’s writing handbooks, tightening policies and logistics, and “taking care of all the moving parts behind the scenes,” Kathleen said.
Combining Kathleen’s industry knowledge with Delaney’s operational and design skills is leading to natural, synchronized advances in the shop’s operations.
Paige, the youngest, joined Xpertech as a customer service representative. Recently, she started training to become a service advisor, learning more and more about customer relations.
Additionally, Paige and Delaney’s father, Dean Jarosik, plays a huge role in the operations. With more than 37 years of experience, Dean has been with the shop since 2017 as a lead technician, soon to transition into general manager.
Working together as a family has been a positive experience, both for the shop and its customers.
CONNECTION TO COMMUNITY
Unique to Xpertech is its lively, car-parts themed mural painted outside of the shop.
The colors were chosen to symbolize a proud partnership with the NAPA Auto Care program, which benefits customers through warranties.
“NAPA has a 36,000-mile nationwide warranty on parts and labor. Meaning, if a repair fails while a customer is traveling or in another state, another NAPA Auto Care Center can handle the repair warranty,” Kathleen said.
“It’s a win-win. Our shop maintains independence, but also is connected to a network of 18,000 other shops nationwide.”
To connect local customers with the shop, Xpertech mails a monthly newsletter that engages the community in a positive way.
Many of the shop’s outreach efforts — like free hot dog days, giveaways and food drives — are simply meant to create joy and strengthen community ties. Readers learn about the staff, educational car care information, enter giveaways and learn recipes.
“We want our customers to feel connected to the people behind the business,” Kathleen said. To schedule a visit, go to XpertechAutoRepair.com or call 941-214-7373.
