This is a reminder to join volunteers worldwide to help protect our waters by removing litter and recording data that can drive real policy change. This year’s cleanup is especially meaningful as our community continues to recover from hurricane debris—let’s work together to restore our shorelines and waterways!
The Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup is worldwide effort where people can think globally and act locally to help protect our water, a precious resource for the health and well being of humans and animals alike. This is an opportunity for volunteers to not only remove debris from our land and waterways but also become citizen scientists, recording data that will be used to change policies around the world. Will you join us? Many folks in our community have spent hours and hours trying to remove all of the hurricane debris and as we all know, it is a long process! We have made so many friends along the way and we are looking forward to continuing to work together to bring our shoreline and waterways back to their pristine condition!
Approximately 80% of litter that is on our roads, ends up in our waterways. Please consider other areas for cleanup than just our beaches! Roadways near canals are great places to start!
