Lemon Bay Playhouse will present a special benefit performance of Grace and Glorie on Saturday, June 21 at 2 p.m., with all proceeds supporting the Englewood Community Care Clinic.
Tickets for the performance are $30, and 100% of the funds raised will be donated to the nonprofit clinic, which provides vital healthcare services to underserved individuals in the Englewood area. The event aims to combine the power of community theater with a mission to make a difference.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to support two great causes at once—live local theater and compassionate healthcare,” said organizers from Lemon Bay Playhouse. “We’re proud to use our stage to shine a light on the needs of our community.”
Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Grace and Glorie tells the story of Grace, a 90-year-old cancer patient who opts to return to her isolated cottage rather than remain in the hospital. She is met by Glorie, a tightly wound New Yorker turned hospice volunteer who is grieving the loss of her own child. As the two women confront their differences, they find unlikely common ground in this poignant and often humorous exploration of healing, mortality, and connection.
The performance will take place at Lemon Bay Playhouse, 96 West Dearborn Street, Englewood. Tickets can be reserved by calling 941-475-6756 or visiting LemonBayPlayhouse.com.
The Englewood Community Care Clinic, a volunteer-run facility, has served hundreds of uninsured patients since opening in 2011, offering services including primary care, dental, and mental health counseling.
Seating is limited for this one-time benefit show, and early reservations are encouraged.
