Sarasota County Opens Additional Sandbag Distribution Sites Wednesday in Advance of Projected Storms

Sarasota County officials have announced expanded sandbag operations for today, Wednesday, July 2, in anticipation of adverse weather expected later this week.

Sandbags will be available at three self-service locations from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.:

  • Twin Lakes Park — 6700 Clark Road
  • Ed Smith Stadium (Parking Lot) — 2700 12th St.
  • South County Fleet Services — 4571 State Road 776/Englewood Road

The distribution is open to Sarasota County residents only, with a limit of 10 bags per vehicle. Bags and sand are provided; residents should bring their own shovels for filling.

This one-day operation supplements previously scheduled sandbag dates as the county remains in active monitoring of storm developments. Officials encourage the public to stay updated on local conditions and any future emergency response measures.
