Classic Florida: “Dry Season” Began October 15 with 50% Chance of Rain

Keep your umbrellas handy

Dry season officially starts October 15, 2026. But Southwest Florida isn’t exactly cooperating. There’s still plenty of moisture in the air, and scattered thunderstorms will break up the afternoon. Meteorologists say Venice, Englewood, and Punta Gorda face a 40% to 50% chance of rain, so keep an umbrella handy.

Usually, the dry season means less humidity and fewer storms, but the weather is stubborn. The atmosphere’s keeping the storm risk alive, especially along the coast and inland communities.

All of this follows recent flooding from Hurricane Isaias. Sarasota County experienced severe impacts from relentless downpours, particularly in Venice and Myakka River State Park, leading officials to issue a localized flood advisory. Officials are telling drivers: don’t risk water-logged roads.

So, keep an eye out, as Florida weather likes to change its mind. As the saying goes, if the weather in Florida is not to your liking, just give it a few minutes.
