From Wisconsin Roots to Marine Boots: Ed Kinsey is the Ultimate Englewood Family Man

Ed Kinsey with his wife, Ann Marie, at the Florida Youth Soccer convention.

Ed Kinsey moved to Englewood from southern Wisconsin in 1976. He graduated from LBHS in 1982 and grew up in a big family, seven siblings in all. Right after high school, he joined the Marines and later switched to the Reserves once his active duty was up.

He raised two kids, Leah and Paul. Paul’s birth happened while Ed was heading off to Desert Storm. Sadly, Paul passed away from DMD in 2009. Ed didn’t get to meet him until about six months later. Those were tough times.

Later, Ed remarried Ann Marie, who he met through the Englewood Soccer Board. Ann Marie brought three children into his life, Melissa, Sarah, and Theresa, all LBHS grads.

Soccer isn’t just a pastime for Ed. It’s a big part of his life. He holds the position of an elected FYSA commissioner for Southwest Florida, and in 1982, he captained the LBHS team and earned the MVP title.

Ed values honest and loyal friendships. That’s how he lives, showing integrity and expecting the same from others. Fishing is another passion for Ed, not just for the peace it brings, but he genuinely enjoys catching fish.

If Ed were to give any advice, it’d be simple: take more family videos. You won’t regret it later.

What is your motto?

My motto is: know yourself and seek self-improvement.
