Spots for North Port Parks & Rec Counselor-In-Training Program are going fast.
This summer, students in grades 9 through 12 have an opportunity to gain real leadership experience, and rack up volunteer hours, all while having a great time, building skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.
Working as a summer camp counselor does more than beef up your resume; it shapes you. Counselors-In-Training build leadership and empathy, learn how to solve problems on the fly, and figure out how to work with a team. You’ll mentor younger kids, guide them through new adventures, and handle unexpected situations. All this responsibility? It pushes you to be more confident, independent, and patient.
The program runs from June 1 through August 7, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding June 19 and July 3). Each week is just $25, but space is tight, so don’t wait.
Applications are open until April 30. Submit yours in person at the Morgan Family Community Center or the George Mullen Activity Center. Interviews happen the week of May 4. Download the application at NorthPortFL.gov/CIT and get started. Your future self will thank you.
