Power Foods For The Brain
This class will help you prioritize food and nutrients for optimal brain health. Drawing from the book Power Foods for the Brain, by Dr. Neal Barnard, MD, participants will be guided through research supporting a low-fat, plant-based diet for maintaining brain function and minimizing the risk of cognitive decline. The class features a cooking demonstration and sampling of delicious recipes made with a selection of brain-power foods. Resources, including the recipes, will be emailed to participants following the class.
The brain is widely considered the most important organ in the human body, and for some, the most neglected. It is the body’s control center, responsible for coordinating all bodily functions, actions, reactions, thoughts, and feelings.
Featured Class Topics:
Learn foods and ingredients to prioritize and those to limit.
Explore nutrients and vitamins that support brain health.
Examine supplements to add to your daily routine and those to avoid.
A decline in brain health is not an inevitable part of aging. Learn how plant-based foods benefit the brain and may help prevent Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Research shows that saturated and trans fats found in dairy products, meats, pastries, and fried foods can increase the risk for cognitive decline. Instead, eat a plant-based diet, which helps protect brain health. Berries and foods rich in vitamin E, including nuts, seeds, leafy greens, and whole grains, are especially beneficial.
