May marks Mental Health Awareness Month, a reminder of just how important mental health is in Charlotte County and everywhere else.
Sheriff Prummell has worked hard in Florida to improve how we support people facing these challenges. He pushed for the Tristin Murphy Act, making sure folks in the justice system get the help they need. As chair of the State Commission on Mental Health and Substance Abuse, he’s led tough conversations and changes. He introduced the IRIS Unit (Integrated Response for Intervention and Support) and championed the Sheriff’s Drug Addiction Recovery Initiative, both big steps forward for law enforcement.
Sheriff Prummell hasn’t slowed down. Recently, he spoke at the grand opening of the Charlotte Behavioral Health Care Adult Detox and Recovery Unit, driving home his commitment to better services. Take a moment to click this link and read his speech to the community, and keep an eye out; Charlotte County will have more updates throughout Mental Health Awareness Month.
