Help Bring Louie Home (Video)

Englewood Hero, Louie Pierson

Louie Pierson was always the go-to person to call when an animal needed help in Englewood. For 25 years, if a manatee was stranded, or a hawk showed up injured, Louie was there, no matter the weather, no matter the hour. He turned his home into the Amber Lake Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, creating a safe haven for every lost or wounded creature that crossed his path.

Now things have changed. Louie is in hospice, and his family faces a tough challenge: getting him back home to Englewood for his final days. His daughter, Riley Lawrence, wants nothing more than to see him back among the mangroves and familiar waters he loves, the place that’s always been at the center of his life’s work.

Louie spent a lifetime caring for this community’s wildlife. Today, it’s our turn to care for him. Let’s do what Englewood does best and come together for one of our own, making sure Louie can finish his story where it began.
