This is our biggest issue yet, packed with everything you want to know about Pioneer Days gone by what’s on tap this year.
You can feel the excitement building already. This year’s Pioneer Day Parade celebrates a huge milestone: 70 years of community, memories, and magic. Englewood’s getting into a 70s groove, too, with disco balls, bright colors, and retro fun throughout town. Inside, you’ll find our regular bi-weekly content, plus a special Pioneer Days 2026 insert loaded with your official event guide, a walk through festival history, and stories honoring the people and moments that have shaped Englewood.
We’re especially proud to put a spotlight on two outstanding community members. There’s a heartfelt tribute to 2025 Grand Marshal Nancy Wille; her dedication set a remarkable standard, and an introduction to 2026’s Grand Marshal, Linda Stevens. Both women show us the heart of Englewood and why it’s so important to keep honoring the special people who make our town special.
Our Pioneer Days history feature is a lot of fun. We head back to 1973, reliving ABC’s Superstars Competition in Rotonda. That event drew national attention and made Rotonda a must-visit Florida destination. You’ll also find a special salute to the Lemon Bay Historical Society, an organization born right out of the Pioneer Days spirit.
Since Tom Newton launched the Englewood REVIEW, we’ve taken pride in carrying his vision forward, capturing Englewood’s history, its people, and the sense of community that makes it shine. We’re honored to keep Tom’s tradition alive, bringing you Englewood’s rich stories and history in every issue.
