Florida’s getting a genuine taste of fall this weekend, September 26 and 27, 2026. A cold front is rolling through, and it’ll finally bring those crisp mornings we’ve been waiting for. The humidity drops, the air feels lighter, it’s like Florida shakes off the muggy vibe for something fresher.
The forecast calls for this cool front to move in toward the end of the week, cleaning up the sticky tropical air across most of the state. Still, there’s a bit of uncertainty about how far south it’ll reach.
In Southwest Florida, mornings turn a bit more comfortable with humidity easing up, though it won’t be as chilly as up north. Afternoon plans at the beach or pool? No worries, it stays warm and pleasant, right in the mid-80s.
One meteorologist in Tallahassee called this the first true cool surge of autumn. It’s timed perfectly, too. Astronomical fall officially starts September 22, right around the equinox, even though meteorologists mark their calendars for September 1.
According to the National Weather Service, North Florida and the Panhandle will see cooler, drier air arrive on September 23. You’ll really feel the difference by the weekend, especially Sunday morning.
Expect lows dipping into the 60s for most of the state; up by the Florida-Georgia line, it’ll get down to the upper 50s. Afternoons won’t be cold, highs stay in the mid to upper 80s, so the warmth lingers. Rain chances drop as the front moves in and brings drier air, but if the front stalls out before reaching deep South Florida, some moisture may linger.
